What do I Mean? Let me tell you about my weekendI went to Hobby Lobby over the weekend. There were Christmas decorations on the shelves. It's October. "Okay," I thought. "People need time to get their decorations made. It's fine." I went to the grocery store. They had Christmas ornaments alongside Halloween candy. The Halloween candy was 50% off. Yay! Go me! I attended my local Stein & Dine festival in town. Christmas lights abound in the store windows. It's October. Ya'll, I live in a place where the population is on a sign when you enter our cute little village. The number is 6,508. I know my neighbors. I know the local business owners. This isn't a big city. October used to be about Halloween. November was about Thanksgiving. December belonged to Christmas. So why are we having a hodgepodge of all the holidays? I Blame Hallmark"There's an app for that" was originally coined from the term "there's a greeting card for every holiday". Even ground hog day. Am I the only one who still can't get used to the commercial uses of these holidays? Are kids going to start saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Trick or Treat"? What's my point? I'm still going to celebrate each holiday on their day, not before. Which means you get this years Halloween Treat from me for Halloween. Not before Thanksgiving, not before Christmas. Samhain is still October 31st. In celebration I have a screen saver for you. It's a Samhain blessing celebrating and ushering in the next year. It's a little early, but so is every one else :)
Until next time... ...happy Samhain! ~ Stephy

Welcome to The Enclave Thanks for taking a look at my little hodgepodge of a blog. The format and subjects of my blog has changed through the years as it's my log of S.N.McKibben's writing journey. You've now been sufficiently forewarned, happy reading! Categories
