I've come to realize I am entirely addicted to anime. I knew it would happen. It was just my love of art and stories combined and once I found a dealer I'd be hooked. Thanks Funimation, now I can have my crack on my computer! In the early days it was Robotec. Years later it became Hellsing--inspiration for my first fan-fic. Then it was Death-note which spilled into Black Butler. After that I actively started searching for anime and found Physco-Pass and Spice and Wolf. Dammit!! Now I wait with impatience for new episodes of Black Butler and Physco-Pass and I'm going to start watching Ghost in the Shell--another that has been recommended to me. Now here's my take on my anime obsession. The art is fucking fantastic. I find it better than Hollywood movies. Also, I don't know about you, but to me, the stories are incredible. Akira taught me these stories have something to say...and not the usual global warming politics. Even Spice and Wolf I'm learning things--things "real life" movies don't seem to have for me. These stories remind me of science fiction writers. Anime has these awesome writers that give you twists that I've not seen in other movies (Matrix--the first one--is the exception) and Disney feels too politically safe for me. Because I'm a writer I want to improve my craft and anime seems to be one of the places to learn. I'm not sure why, but Hollywood movies don't do it for me anymore. I don't follow directors or actors--I follow writers *Joss Wheaton* or combinations of writers and actors. Now I'm talking about video--not books. I have a whole heard of writers I can turn to for awesome stories. Of course, I'm all ears if you have someone to recommend to me in books or video. I love Adam Savage's podcast for just that reason. When he recommends something--I watch it. Gataga--thumbs up! Joe Nobody--thumbs way up! Pi--yes, more please. But they are hard to find and few in between. So I'm finding it way more convenient to go to Funimation for more and more of my video enjoyment and also writing lessons! Yes, I learn how to write by watching these "cartoons" because the writing in them is what keeps me entertained. I like to break down the scenes in every episode and ask--if I were writing this, where would I go with it? That prompts ideas, character quirks, and I learn from the master's showing me how. I can read a book about craft all day and still not get it. You know the line--show don't tell. Well it's true for me in learning. Don't tell me how to write well, show me. That's what anime does for me. If you have any recommendations or geek over Alucard, Nobuchika Ginoza or Kraft Lawrence...I'm all ears! ***** Mature Content!! 18+ Only!! ***** Mature Content!! Author reading from "Cougar Bait in the Coffee Shop". Kalyan, nearly twenty years younger than his would-be lover, would do anything to become Satomi's cougar bait. Including but not limited to: meeting her on her own terms, dying his hair, aging his face with make-up and being the subject of a little PDA. Satomi is actually resistant to the idea of dating younger men, but Kalyan finds a unique way to get around her age discrimination and their generation gap while proving that maturity isn't hindered by age. by OCMD "bookworm" (VINE VOICE) After reading, and loving “The Demon Inside Me” I had to check out the author’s other books. This title caught my eye because my husband is younger than me. Our age difference is only a few years, and there’s twenty years between the would-be lovers in this book. But I loved the extremes Kalyan went to in order to get his cougar. Another winner from Ms Mckibben. I’ll be looking for more.
There are about 15 more days to get four books and a pair of Sylvia Day sunglasses! Here's what you get:

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, Hot, Hot, July 29, 2014 By S. H. "Elizabeth S."
Wow. What a hot, hot, hot story. The action starts on page one. Caro Anderson opens the door to find the Dom of her dreams--Rhys Devlin, and he's fully prepared to give her what she's always wanted. "She dreamed of belonging to a man like this, of being his sole focus, of serving him in the most base, carnal way. Slowly she rose and untied the wrapped belt, letting the skirt slip to the floor." Rhys knows exactly what Caro needs and gives it to her early and often. But in the end they discover a weekend might not be enough. If you like harder erotica but still with much heart and romance, you'll love Holiday Submission. Plenty of romance balances the more erotic scenes, too. I'm going to re-read this one many times.

Diving into Sugar Kink Ink, her debut novel "Chase's Hard Wear" is expected to be released December 2014. This new series revolves around light bondage and BDSM themes that tantalize until you scream! "Chase's Hard Wear" will be the first of three and maybe more in the series! I wrote about where I get my inspiration in my last post, and here is a video that actually inspires character motivation. I am always so moved by these time lapses of stars that are so well done, I feel as though I can reach out and touch the sky. I look at the stars at the great "nowhere" that feels like home. They are the face of oblivion and I want to go. Some like to know where I get my story ideas and in the past I've gotten them from TV shows or even other books. I'll start off with having a certain character in mind that morphs into my own. An idea will form and off I go writing. But not all ideas get a story. For instance, I love Grell Sutcliff from Black Butler, but I'd have no idea how to put him into a character of my own. Of course there are a few of my characters that scream--"We'd know what to do with him!" Now I'm just getting off track...Back to story ideas: I've recently got a story idea from ease-dropping. At the pizza place, I was listening to a guy explain about solving mathematical problems in a different dimension. Basically, you take a problem to an other dimension where the issue isn't an undeniable law in the original dimension, solve the problem in that dimension, bring the solved issue back into the dimension in which it came from and you have your answer to that problem. (Dear god--did that only make sense to me?) How this translates into a story... I got to thinking about what this issue would look like. What needs to be solved? I took the example of gravity. Not much is known about gravity except--it works. Understanding gravity and its secrets might take placing gravity in a different dimension. A dimension where gravity doesn't rule. How would you place that problem in another dimension? Would it look like an incubator with rubber hands you slip into? I asked more questions. Things like...who would have this power? Who has the power to solve problems in a different dimension. I haven't a clue as to where this came from but...my answer was: Santa Claus. Yes, Kris Kringle. That's who! I started thinking about it. The more I did, the more it made sense. Yes, Santa has the power to take "problems" like how the hell do I give over a billion children presents? He took the time issue and solved that problem in a different dimension, then brought it back here. Wow! Santa's a nuclear physicist! As ever though, I have to think about the story and plot but I think I have a good grasp on what to do and where to go with it! And now Grell has become a bit of an inspiration. Having his chainsaw taken away didn't stop him from reaping souls. He loves his job more than anything--just like me!
Snow Blood by Carol McKibben
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Our main character, Snow Blood, is the best vampire guard dog ever!! If I turn into a an undead, I want Snow Blood covering my back! This story is along the lines of unconditional love like the author's last book "Luke's Tale" but "Snow Blood" is more epic! We get to see things through the eyes of a dog watching the love of Brogio's life walk in while the jealous god that cursed him tries to rip the lovers apart. Snow Blood has none of that and seeks to help Brogio and Selene be together! Fun, fast read! View all my reviews |
