SynopsisFoiled by a hero when he’s inches away from conquering the world, the devil finds himself in modern-day Tokyo. With no real-world skills to speak of, the devil is forced to make ends meet flipping burgers at a fast food joint! To stall any further plans of world domination, the hero tracks the devil’s trail and takes on the lowly tasks of a telemarketer. That's the official blurb, but I found and like this one better: When the infamous demon ruler Satan and his fellow demon general, Alciel fall through the gate to the human world from their home Ente Isla, they find they are unable to return to their world. The former demons are unable to use magic with their new human bodies. Both of the demons must adapt to their now human bodies and learn the ways of the human world. They take on new identities, find a new Devil's Castle, and new jobs along the way as Maou/Satan strives to be the very best MgRonald's worker he can be. Both Maou and Ashiya/Alciel make their way in their new world as they encounter Emilia the hero of Ente Isla and Chiho, Mao's coworker who falls in love with him. Main CharactersSupporting CharactersReviewIn Ente Isla the devil is a powerful warlord and as we learn, he's just protecting his demon underlings against humans, but he is the devil and works at McRonald's to rule the world (starting from the ground up). His work ethic is admirable. Alsiel takes care of the devil by cooking and cleaning in their shanty of an apartment. The concept may not be all that unusual, but the jokes are worth it. I love some of the scenes when Lucifer (who is not the same as Satan) shows up. I love Maou (Satan) himself, but Alsiel has a big part of my heart. Loyal. Caring. Cooks good food. He's so good at knowing what Satan needs that if this was Yaoi, Alsiel would be the most awesome cat. But everyone has their hopes for the Emillia/Maou ship and while that would be awesome, I'm not sure that's where the series is going. But I have only seen the first series of the anime and have never read the manga. The opening credits are awesome... I love all the characters. There was not one that seemed unnecessary and I love how they all interacted. I find my review sorely lacking because the show speaks for itself. While the first episode is a little on the serious side, the rest is comic filled awesomeness. One last attempt to show you the humor... Lucifer shows up, thinks Satan has lost his leadership touch and starts messing with the people Maou cares for. Emillia and Satan join forces to stop Lucifer, but they aren't exactly a team... while Satan tries to magically hold a freeway up from falling and killing people, Emillia dodges Satan's attack (see below).
