September has a significant list of Literary Celebrations!Read on to see them all! Eleven special days and four topical months make September a scorcher for books! Library Card Sign Up Month Be Kind to Editors and Writers Month National Literacy Month Read a New Book Month September gives us an excuse to learn more about literacy, and Libraries. Give your favorite writer/editor a coffee (Send over a paypal to trollriverpub.com *hint hint*). Or read a new book over coffee in a library while sitting with your favorite writer. 4 – Richard Wright’s birthday Who? How dare you! Kidding, I looked him up and here's what he was about: Richard Nathaniel Wright was an American author that took the plight of African American's suffering discrimination and violence into his novels, short stories, poems, and non-fiction. Much of his literature concerns racial themes. His "Uncle Tom's Children" looks interesting. Men can starve from a lack of self-realization as much as they can from a lack of bread. Men simply copied the realities of their hearts when they built prisons. The impulse to dream was slowly beaten out of me by experience. Now it surged up again and I hungered for books, new ways of looking and seeing. 4 – Newspaper Carrier Day My Mail carrier brings me news, does that count? 6 – Read a Book Day For many months every day is Read a Book Day!! 8 – International Literacy Day This is the perfect day to sign up for your Library Card!! 19-25 – National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week The whole family should go to the library! 19-25 – Banned Books Week [Insert wild eye here] 22 – Hobbit Day Talk like a hobbit! 22 – Dear Diary Day What secrets do you want to have revealed after your six feet under and people are looking around your possessions. 24 – F. Scott Fitzgerald’s birthday I am not reading The Great Gatsby every again! Find another book to read by this guy. 25 – National Comic Book Day Oh! Oh! This is truly a sign that I should start my Patreon for "Snow Blood" that day! 29 – National Coffee Day in the U.S. Like we'd drink something else! Fun Fun! Vote for your favorite day and I'll post the results at the end of the month!
Until next time... ...happy reading! ~ Stephy Comments are closed.
